Item #LS-0152CW: This Nylon bottle cage from Cateye does a much better job of holding onto a bottle than most traditional cages. Ideal for mountain bikes or any other time you want your water bottle to stay put. 40 grams. Our customer, Bob Hanson of Albuquerque, raves about these cages. He says, "The nylon flexes rather than breaks if handled roughly (unlike many of the newer, cheap plastic copies of these), and they do not bend out of shape as will many of the inexpensive aluminum cages. I've found these cages are useful for fitting to bikes with loosened riveted cage bosses. Because the screws will pull the bosses upward into the hollow behind the bolt holes, they can effect a temporary 'repair' for otherwise rattling cages. Furthermore, these cages were designed when narrower steel tubing was most common on bikes, so they 'seat' better against older frames than many of the newer plastic, TI, or carbon fiber cages, which are made with wider tubing in mind. AND, I have also found that I can indeed even use these on frames without bottle cage bosses! There are slots in the sides of the plastic, near the pre-drilled bolt holes. I've been easily able to slip either an old pair of bolt-on French aluminum alloy bottle cage clips or the stainless clips once made by Blackburn through these slots. By substituting bolts just a few mm longer than the originals, the clips will fasten comfortably around old 1-1/8" Reynolds steel tubing." PLEASE NOTE that our part number AP-BCP will also attach this cage to a 1 1/8" frame tube, but you would need to use longer clamp screws. First, use an extra long generic screw (one inch or longer) and nut to attach the water bottle cage. This will reshape the water bottle cage clips around the Cateye water bottle cage and the frame tube. You can then use a 5mm x 20mm socket cap screw (like our item EF-SS520) to permanently cinch the cage clips and attach the water bottle cage.
